Library Whispers
Katie’s fingers danced across the spines of books, her heart racing with the thrill of order. She hummed softly, a tune as old as the dusty tomes that surrounded her. Mr. Darcy, her mischievous cat, darted between her legs like a shadow, purring loudly, demanding attention.
“Not now, Darcy!” she said, laughing as she dodged him again. He flicked his tail, unimpressed.
She turned sharply around a corner, balancing a precarious stack of novels — “Pride and Prejudice” teetering at the top. The shop radiated warmth, sunlight filtering through the large front window, casting golden stripes on the wooden floor. It was calm, but only for a moment.
Suddenly, a figure appeared.
“Whoa!”
The world tilted. Books slipped from her hands, cascading to the floor in a colourful avalanche. A pair of startled blue eyes met hers — Andrew, the new guy down the street with that coffee shop everyone was buzzing about. He stumbled backward, bumping into a shelf, sending a small collection of travel guides tumbling.
“Sorry! I didn’t see you there!” he stammered, his voice deep and slightly flustered.
“Clearly,” Katie shot back, fighting both embarrassment and amusement.
“Are you okay?” His expression morphed from surprise to concern, and he bent to help collect…
