The cold impacts come from a cold perspective.

What is ‘transgender’?

Transgender is a term used to describe individuals whose gender identity or expression differs from the sex they were assigned at birth. This can include people who identify as a different gender than the one they were assigned at birth and those who do not conform to traditional gender roles or norms. While transgender individuals have existed throughout history and in cultures worldwide, it is only in recent decades that society has begun to recognize and respect the diversity of gender identity and expression.

One of the biggest challenges facing transgender individuals is discrimination and prejudice. This can take many forms, including employment discrimination, harassment, violence, and denial of access to healthcare. Many transgender individuals face significant barriers to healthcare access, including insurance coverage exclusions, discrimination from healthcare providers, and limited access to specialized medical care such as hormone therapy and gender confirmation surgery. As a result, transgender people are at increased risk for various health problems, including mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, and physical health problems such as HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.
